This month we are celebrating Women’s History Month and here at Panelle we want to focus on helping and inspiring the women of tomorrow.
This closely links to the theme of International Women’s Day 2025: Accelerate Action. ‘Accelerate Action’ is all about building momentum for change, in terms of gender equality, all around the globe.
As an aspiring journalist, I am thrilled to have been asked to takeover for this week.
In my articles I will be exploring ways we can ‘Accelerate Action’ to improve prospects for women in industry, from those starting off in their career, like me, to those already in positions of leadership.
I will highlight the strategies, resources, and activities that we can use to ‘Accelerate Action’ towards gender equality in the workplace and to build a brighter future for the women of tomorrow.
Recent times have demonstrated the fragility of the gender equality movement. According to the World Economic Forum, gender parity percentages dropped in the immediate aftermath of the pandemic and took three years to reach pre-pandemic levels again.
Women are clearly first to take the hit when it comes to global setbacks. We don’t know where the world will be in the coming years, but by building a momentum for change we can protect and accelerate our progress towards gender parity in the workplace.
We must work both collectively and individually to achieve significant change.
In 2024, 40.5% of senior leadership roles globally were held by women
The World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report
Some companies have already begun implementing mentorship schemes and peer support programmes to inspire women to take up leadership roles. There is clearly a long way to go before women equal the number of men in positions of senior leadership, but actions like this can bolster change.
Future-oriented thinking is also a huge part of how we can and must improve the world for women. This starts with education, and teaching girls the skills and mindsets that will set them off in the right direction.
I believe that seeing other women in positions of leadership, or working hard to push the boundaries, is crucial to this. Having attended an all girls’ secondary school, where the achievements of women were of central focus, I know what a difference this can make.
We were encouraged to take part in male-dominated industries such as STEM and to pursue all types of careers. This model of encouragement must be transferred into all schools and workplace environments too.
Here at Panelle we are determined to make positive change for women, helping them to progress in their careers and break down gender barriers.
We host panel discussions and produce articles that start conversations about how change can be enacted. Our mission is to advocate for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion at the highest levels, and we need you can be part of this too.
Sign up to our events and share our articles; change can start with you.
