At times security can seem to be at odds with the pace and objectives of the business. But this tension just illuminates a crack in the foundation. Imagine your cybersecurity strategy as the front door of a home. When you buy a front door, it comes fortified with locks from the very beginning. You don't think about adding a lock later just for the sake of convenience; security is inherent. IT isn’t any different, there should be no “we’ll worry about it later’ with security. Similar to adding a lock to a door later, in cybersecurity the tendency has been to address DEI as an afterthought. However, DEI should be an integral part of the cybersecurity framework right from the start. It is not an accessory but a foundational principle that should guide our approach.
